I am sure that over the last few months since WA locked down and locked out the infectious Covid-19 virus your lives and your businesses changed. Ours certainly did.
I want to share with you what we did.
Return to our original premises
First we moved out of the Perth CBD after a decade of working on the Terrace. We moved back to where we started nearly 20 years ago, a beautiful heritage-listed Maylands building which was built in 1908 as a Post Office. A photo of our building – whether in the past or the present – doesn’t do justice to just how warm and welcoming it is. You will see it for yourself when you next visit as we think it is restored to its former glory.
OK – you might have looked at the photo, and I admit that there aren’t really any public telephone boxes outside our office anymore, but I promise that it looks just like it did back then!
Our address is now 160 Whatley Crescent, Maylands WA 6051.
Upgraded IT for greater accessibility and communication
Secondly we upgraded all our IT facilities to make communicating with you by video conference much easier. As our systems are largely cloud-based, we can work for you whether it is here in our purpose-built office or from home. Either way, we are still as approachable as we ever were – but we are more accessible for our clients to communicate with us either from their own computers or at our office, where parking is plentiful and there is no need to share a crowded lift with anyone.
Touchless experience
Thirdly we took our value of commitment to a new dimension by building an office that has a touchless client room separated by an impenetrable glass wall from a solicitor sitting on the other side sharing your instructions through a video conference link. I’m not exaggerating!
This means that our commitment to protecting your legal interests is matched by a commitment to protecting both your health and the health of our staff, both now and in the future – whether from COVID-19 or from any other infections.
A more focused practice
Fourthly we reduced our headcount to really focus on those areas of law and those special clients who appreciate the commitment of our advice in our focused areas.
We still act for your business in commercial matters including:
- Employment;
- Leasing;
- Commercial Disputes and court action;
- Debt recovery; and
- Business agreements and advice.
We also act for some clients in certain family law matters which impact on their businesses, their relationships with their children, or even their freedoms that might otherwise be impacted by a restraining order.
We are also able to draw up wills – including complex wills that involve testamentary trusts – and Enduring Powers of Attorney, Enduring Powers of Guardianship, and Advanced Health Directives.
We consider ourselves very fortunate to act for many inclusive and motivated organisations including in the Indigenous and Not-for-Profit areas. Many of our commercial clients have had a relationship with us that spans over 20 years as we have helped them to manage their cashflow with our affordable and efficient debt recovery division.
Our special offer on Wills, EPAs and EPGs
In the coming months we will see the rest of the country struggling with the return from lockdown to something like the (relative) normality that we enjoy in Western Australia. For a limited time we are offering you the chance to come to our new office and establish your will, enduring power of attorney and enduring power of guardianship using our touchless experience: behind glass, with our solicitor right there to witness your signature from the very next office but still in in full view.
My own opinion is that these important documents should be done now while WA basks in relative isolation before we face the inevitable visitors from outside the state who will cross the borders and bring with them this terrible infection.
We intend that your visit to establish these documents will take you no more than one hour and that you will walk away with your documents fully executed with no further visit required (*based on a simple will being appropriate in your circumstances).
Our fixed price offer is:
For an individual –
One simple will – only $399
With an added EPA and EPG for 1 person – only $499 for all three documents.
For the family –
Mirror wills, plus mirror EPAs and EPGs for two partners nominating each other as their powers of attorney and guardianship – only $799 for all six documents.
Special Commercial Business Offer
Just so our valuable business clients are not left out of our introductory offers, we are also offering to draft a standard updated Contract of Employment for your business to use as a template for your staff for the spectacular price of $825 with no more to pay.
We expect that you should be able to visit us and complete this document in no more than one hour with our employment lawyer and to have an up-to-date, effective template document that you can use time and again.
To avail yourself of either of these offers or to find out more, please contact us.
We look forward to seeing you or hearing from you soon!
